  1. Yes! Yes! Yes! This is so well written and exactly where I'm going to be sending the people who make my head want to explode because I can't seem to speak coherently when I'm about to have my head explode — and yet, you, wise friend are capable of pointing out the obvious in a way that makes sense (and doesn't sound like me raging and pontificating!)

love this – and I really don't watch the news either so I'm not sure about it at all, but I think, of course, that the majority of the "blamers" and those agreeing with the blamers LOVE the nightly/daily/morning news.

You know sometimes how you *know* something, but just can't put it into words that others will understand? That's what Rachel did. By repeating it over and over and over again, you certainly get the absurdity. You see how you are so easily caught up in it. Strip away all the pretty window dressing of patriotism, family values, returning to our roots as a Christian nation, you get it–FEAR.

Hmmm…I only saw the first Matrix movie but it's kinda like being "plugged in." We are being fed a steady diet of fear and we don't even know we are ingesting it.

Uhg, this isn’t profound or true – trying to tell me I’m my own worse enemy. You are sick and self-loathing, you need help.

This rachel maddow is an a$$hole. Anyone who would listen to such self-loathing bull$hit is pathetic. Think for yourself, open your eyes, and maybe stop being so dikey if possible you might have fun instead of being so misserable.

The truth? I am pretty sure you are getting some dumb, two-bit, script-reading hack’s opinion confused with the truth…simply because you agree with that opinion.

Ya, kind of like how you are believing this rachel maddow bullshit.

Treat people like they deserve to be treated – I can agree with that. Time for blacks to start getting the attention they deserve:

        Welcome to the blog, Zwolf.

I'm interested in why you left 4 separate comments? Was there a problem with the comment system or do you struggle to think beyond 1 or 2 sentence sound bites?

Gosh, *think* was a strong word.

The easy thing for me would have been to delete your attempt at dialogue. (That's what we do on this blog, btw). Yet when haters like you show up, it just increases my blog traffic.

So, thanks. Thanks so much for making my point. :)

        • OMG — I'm CRACKING up. #thatisall (and I love the question about the multiple comments!) #loveyou and #ithoughtthiswasfunwewerehaving

You know, trying to grant a little grace here. IntenseDebate was giving you grief and I just wanted to make sure Zwolf wasn't struggling with the same issues. (Clearly there ARE some, but we'll leave that for another time. :) )

            #loveyoutoo

We shouldn't be so "dikey" though. ROTFLMAO.

        • *SNORT* Could you please warn me before you do that? Now I have to take a shower.

          • LisaMilesBrady

Was it something I said, LaVonne? How could someone so "misserable" be so funny? :)

Oh I know, it's that self-loathing, dikey humor, isn't it?? "Uhg".

Glad you stopped by to get a chuckle.

I'm a fiscal conservative. I don't care who marries whom – so long as there is not an additional burden on social security for partner benefits. The system, and thereby the collections, was not designed for that. If you want to have social reform, have fiscal reform that supports it.

Healthcare? great, how about a plan that can be paid for without assuming congress can do things they have never been able to do – like reducing fraud or added expense due to litigation.

Race baiting – sure it's stupid on all levels. No reasonable individual can believe any of the crap on any network. How about this – "by your merits shall you be judged" – hold me accountable for my actions and do the same for all others.

    • LisaMilesBrady

Welcome, Bruce. Thanks for stopping by & sharing your thoughts.

I always wonder where the fiscal conservatives were when we went to war in Iraq.

I'm also hoping that the other baby boomers on the blog will help me understand how social security is OK as long as you're going to receive it, but anything that may jeopardize that,is fiscally irresponsible.

      Just sayin…

I, too, would politically consider myself a "fiscal conservative" but with a socially conscious agenda. Reallocating funds from our exorbitant defense budget may be a good place to start to find the $ for healthcare, education, infrastructure improvements and social services. Seems that for all the billions spent to maim, kill, and destroy, we could break off a little somethin' somethin' to build up and support. But that's too easy.

I would love to believe that "no reasonable individual can believe any of the crap on any network" but we'd have to agree on a definition of "reasonable." These "reasonable" people hold down jobs, keep up their tidy lawns, pay taxes, vote, go to church and love their families. They are the backbone of this "great" country. And they feel threatened for some reason. So while race baiting is stupid, it works. And they are believing what they see on TV.

  3. I used to never watch the news and I still don't except for political news. Rachel Maddow is my absolute favorite because of the way she tells the truth and just like you said, tells it over and over and over, until it is inescapable! Were it not for her, I would not have known about what happened to Shirley Sherrod, either. I have learned so much from her and Keith Olbermann about how crazy some people are on the political right. I thought "wing-nut" was just a rude way to describe a group of people you don't agree with but who, like you, want the best for this country. I'm rethinking that now. ~~Jeanine

I want so much to stay away from the labels but wing-nut is so damn appropriate! :P

(Ahem)…Ok, so let me "officially" welcome you to the blog, Jeanine.

At the heart of it all, most of us average folks want the same thing. But the politicians know that if poor and working class whites UNITED with the poor and working class people of color, their dumb-asses would be in trouble. So this divisive strategy of fear works to the politicians advantage and the poor and working class stay…well, poor and working class.

Meanwhile the middle class bought into the hype of more, bigger, better, keep-up-with the Joneses and you see where this recession has left them.

      And who has really benefited?

We have to unite to bring about real and RADICAL change to this country. Change that is win-win-win.

Yay to Rachel for pointing out the crazies! I'll do my part where I can as well.

Give it to me...
